This course is designed to give you the tools you need for higher education including apprenticeships and technician-level employment in a wide range of engineering disciplines.
Candidates who have existing Level 2/3 qualifications experience but wish to bridge this experience to STEM higher areas will be supported for entry by learning maths and science for engineers, study and employment skills and completing engineering workshops in engineering and mechanical.
You will study:
• Application of algebra, understanding applications of SI, units and measurement
• Understand fundamental scientific principles of mechanical engineering
• Kinematics
• Simplification of polynomials — dynamics
• Simplify and solve equations — transposition of formulae and force, work and power
• Solve linear simultaneous equations with two unknowns using: solve quadratic equations and fundamental scientific principles of electrical and electronic engineering
• Solving using exponentials and logarithms — using inverse function, log laws and voltage, current and resistance
• Angles and radians — problem solving with arcs, circles, sectors and electric fields and capacitance
• Problem solving involving right-angled triangles, problem solving involving non-right-angled triangles and series RC circuits and characteristics
• Solve problems involving indefinite integration and basic material properties
