BTEC Higher Nationals are vocational qualifications designed to give you the skills to put your knowledge to effective use in the workplace.

They are highly valued by employers and may be used towards gaining professional status.

Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) are Level 5 qualifications which can be studied either full-time or part-time.

You will study 8 units which will include: Electronic principles, Engineering Design, Further analytical methods for engineers, Energy management, Electrical/Electronic and digital principles, Management of projects, PLCs and Further electrical power.

By the end of the course you should be able to: Understand the principles of and carry out complex calculations in scientific and mathematical subjects with confidence, work independently on long term project & design work, use computer hardware/software to support other skills, have an awareness of management techniques and their relevance in an engineering environment and be able to apply all of the above within a working environment.

Entry requirements

48 UCAS points in a science related subject. Plus 5 GCSEs including maths and English at grade 4 (C) or above.

We would welcome applications from candidates with the equivalent qualifications or relevant experience.
