The Level 2 in Uniformed Public Services covers the underpinning knowledge for the public services sector and supporting progression to a specific public services apprenticeship, on to a job within the Armed Forces, Police or Fire Services, or to progression on to Level 3 Diploma in Public Services course.

You will partake in a mixture of classroom and practical activities, and will explore a number of topics including investigating employment in the uniformed services, physical fitness for the uniformed services, developing team working and problem solving skills, map reading, outdoor activities and service routine.

The course often runs residential trips to Army Reserves, and has regular contact with services including police dog training.

The modules on this course have been specifically chosen to provide a wide range of skills and experiences that would be relevant in any employment setting (such as teamwork, equality and diversity and employment activities).

This course could lead to a career in public services employment such as a Police Community Support Officer or a career in the military. Studying on this course allows you free access to the college sports and gym facilities.

By completing this course, you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Uniformed Public Services.

Entry requirements

New applicants: To study this course you will need four GCSEs graded 2-9 (including English and maths), in addition to demonstrating enthusiasm and interest for pursuing a career within the industry.Existing students: Successful completion of a revelant level 1 qualification and a demonstrated progression in English and maths.

Costs

Free to all 16-18 year olds. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA (Employment Support Allowance, work related activity) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs. Actual Cost is: £1987.00. All costs are subject to slight changes.
