The Foundation Year Programme has been specifically designed to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to support progression onto the Health T Level (NHS Nurse Cadets).

It is targeted at students who are not yet ready to start a T Level but have the potential to progress onto the full T Level.

This course consists of five core components which are tailored to the needs of individual students.

Course units include: understanding the role of a healhcare worker; communication skills for working in the health sector; personal development; health, safety and security; understanding quality standards and equality and diversity.

A diagnostic and guidance period will allow staff to assess capabilities and support needs to enable them to tailor support and ensure the correct route is chosen for students.

English, maths and science are core components of the Transition programme and if they have not been achieved at a Grade 4 or above, learners will be supported to achieve these to prgress onto the full T Level in Health.

Learners will be supported with work experience and work preparation as learners are required to complete 36 hours of work experience within the NHS to ensure learners are well prepared for their future destination.

The Foundation Year programme will offer introductory technical skills. You will spend two weeks on placement with an NHS provider to gain first-hand experience to compliment the theory work delivered.

New applicants are required to have 5 GCSEs grade 3-9, including maths and English and a science. You will also need a satisfactory DBS check, and are required to attend a mandatory T Level Assessment Centre.
