This course is ideal for those looking to gain a broad range of mechanical engineering skills and competencies to enable safe progression into the workplace and employment within the engineering industry.

During the course you will learn how to work efficiently and effectively in engineering, use and communicate technical information, produce components using hand fitting techniques, set and operate lathes, interpret and generate engineering drawings, produce mechanical assemblies and maintain mechanical devices and equipment.

As part of this course you will also have the opportunity to top up your maths and English skills if applicable for your studies.

This qualification is the Engineering (Mechanical) - Level 2 NVQ Diploma.

Entry requirements

New applicants: To study this course you will need 4 GCSEs grade 3-9 (D-A*) including maths and English. Significant industry experience will also be considered. Existing students: Completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification and GCSE grade 3-9 (D-A*) or equivalent in maths and English.

Costs

Free to all 16-18 year olds. Funding may be available for 19-23 year olds. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA (Employment Support Allowance, work related activity) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs. Actual Cost is: £3345.00. All costs are subject to slight changes.

What next?

Once you have successfully completed the Level 2 course you could progress on to one of our Level 3 Engineering courses or an apprenticeship which will give you real world experience in the industry with the benefit of a training wage.
