Mainly occurring in the workplace, helping to gain a multitude of skills in a real work environment.
Course Description
Learners are using the skills, knowledge and behaviours previously gained and applying them in a range of external businesses, and in their transition into independence. Learners will develop their employability skills, independence, health and wellbeing, and independent travel and getting to know their local community. This year will profoundly focus on careers, regional employment needs and applying for realistic work opportunities.

Teachers, job coaches and employers working in collaboration, have the knowledge, understanding and experience to enable learners with an EHCP to access employment opportunities and experiences.
The course is designed so that learners will experience meaningful work placements in external businesses within the community. The students attend college one day a week for tutoring, where they engage in classroom and practical based activities. The fundamentals of this programme are to develop workplace skills, to ensure learners are ready for work and independent living. They will develop solutions to challenges, learn how to deal with conflict, develop communication skills, and develop professional manners and behaviours.
Learners will have had the opportunity to develop a good work ethic, a range of employability skills, and will be able to transfer skills learnt into a wide range of work settings; the end goal being employment.

- Professional behaviours within a workplace, employability skills, interview skills and CV and cover letter writing.
- Interns will be supported to apply for work including taking part in practise interviews.
- Deeper understanding of safeguarding and GDPR.
- Understanding policies and procedures within a workplace environment.
- Further development of communication and customer service skills. This will also include body language, and observation skills.
- Financial literacy and money management.
