Keep up with Chris' cycle challenge
Chris Nattress, principal of Lakes College, is cycling nearly 1,000 miles through England and Scotland for Macmillan Cancer Support
From Land's End to John O'Groats
The principal of Lakes College is tackling a gruelling cycling challenge which will see him ride from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in north Scotland.
Chris Nattress hopes to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support by completing nearly 1,000 miles with a friend.
Chris’ trip will be the equivalent of:
- 37 marathons
- 124 rides from Workington to Whitehaven, or vice versa
- More than 4,500 laps of our 3G football pitch
- Almost half of the distance of the Tour de France, the world’s biggest annual bicycle race
Before beginning his journey, Chris spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria about his reasons for fundraising and how his preparations have gone. You can listen to Chris’ interview below:
Staff in the college are also being encouraged to head down to the ActivZone gym and cycle, run or row in a bid to match the miles being done on the ride, and make a donation to a pot which will then go to the charity.
