Do I need to study maths/English alongside my course?
I achieved a Grade 4 at GCSE, will I need to study maths/English?
If you achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (equivalent to C) or above in maths and English, you do not have to study additional classes during your time at Lakes College.
Maths and English GCSE at a C grade/grade 4 or equivalent is often a requirement for employment, apprenticeships and entry to University level education.
I achieved a Grade 3 or below at GCSE, will I need to study it?
If you have a GCSE grade D/grade 3 in mathematics, English or both then you will study and resit these subjects to progress to a GCSE grade C/grade 4 level.
If you have a GCSE grade E/grade 2 or below, you will study Functional Skills in either or both mathematics and English
Will I continue to build on my maths/English skills if I already achieved a Grade 4?
Although you will not be studying these subjects directly, you will build upon your maths and English skills throughout your chosen course.
Quote
I try to find out a lot of information about my students so that I can break that down and pinpoint any gaps in their learning. I just love teaching and I love teaching maths because I think it’s a beautiful subject.
