Value of work experience highlighted during awareness week

IT’S National Work Experience Week so Lakes College is celebrating some of the ways its teams help to ensure Cumbrians get a taste of the workplace.
Full-time students at Lakes College need to complete a week of work experience with local employers during their studies and are supported by work placement coordinators to secure the right experience for them.
All T Levels students complete a substantial work placement as part of their course, developing the key knowledge and skills companies are looking for.
Lakes College apprentices learn on the job in the workplace while being supported by the college, giving them all of the essential employment skills needed.
Students recently got an exclusive look at life in the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, including visiting its impressive facilities. You can read about what they gained from the experience here.

The college also supports external students and people looking to gain experience of the workplace by offering work experience on-campus.
That offer has extended to taking part in the Centre for Leadership Performance’s Dream Placement scheme, with a Keswick School pupil joining the college’s marketing and careers teams earlier this year. You can read Luci Arnott’s blog about her experience here.
